Ellie Goodman is an award-winning violinist based out of New York City. Goodman has over 19 years of experience in contemporary string styles ranging from hot swing to progressive bluegrass. While their creative focus has a wide range, their foundation was largely a product of being involved with the microcosm of Texas contest style fiddling. At 16, they had placed 2nd in the Winfield national fiddle contest, and had taken first place titles at several state contests in addition to placing as a finalist at both Weiser and the Grand Masters Fiddle contests.
An alumni of Berklee College of music, they are able to both meet the technical demands of classically oriented sessions as well as improvise over changes. They currently work with a variety of different jazz and folk, and pop ensembles throughout NYC, in addition to providing private instruction.
Goodman was notably featured as a member of the house band on the first season of NBC's "Maya and Marty" produced by Lorne Michaels in 2016. They presently perform regularly with Citigrass, Bedlam Swing, The Hot Club of Bushwick and a variety of other ensembles as a side instrumentalist. Recent notable recording work includes multiple sessions with The 8-Bit Big Band, Story Pirates Podcast (Gimlet), Sam Sherwood, Speakeasy Streets and more.
